ONE DAY RETREAT, MAY 14, 2018

“MINDFULNESS: CULTIVATING GRATITUDE”
“If the only prayer you say in your whole life is THANK YOU, that would suffice.” Meister Eckhart

All of the spiritual traditions encourage us to live with a grateful heart. It SOUNDS easy but neuroscience shows how the negativity bias of the brain itself can keep us living in prisons of complaints, criticisms and fears despite our best intentions. Freedom IS possible: change your brain, change your life! Consistent practices and tools of mindfulness that have been part of many spiritual traditions for centuries CAN and DO change the brain itself, allowing us to live in the PRESENT with greater inner peace and a grateful heart. This one-day retreat will focus on basic mindfulness practices and tools to cultivate gratitude as a core spiritual path. No prior experience with mindfulness meditation is required.

SEPT. 28-30, 2018

SELF-COMPASSION: WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW…

Self-compassion is neither selfishness nor self-absorption. To open our hearts to the fullness of who we are, the best and the worst with a deep acceptance of the human condition, allows us to bring that same energy of mercy and non-judgment to others. In a world increasingly prone to fear-based reactions and violence, we are called to bring a RESPONSIVE presence, one characterized by clear seeing, wise speech, and right action. This starts within ourselves. What we fear, hate, judge, and reject within ourselves, we will fear, hate, judge, and reject in the other. Deepening self-compassion stops the war within ourselves, thereby empowering us to bring a healing presence to the world, one that recognizes our shared humanity and works for the good of all. This is a weekend to explore and/or deepen practices of compassion starting toward oneself and extending to others. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or new to these practices, this retreat will be of benefit. ALL of the spiritual traditions are grounded in compassion/mercy, and women of all spiritual/religious paths are invited.
